Policy Goal – The Colorado Criminal Defense Bar is Committed to promoting, supporting, defending legislation and policy that would result in a fair, balanced, responsive criminal system in Colorado.  What does this mean?

 

Our Judicial Process is a check on the accusatorial power of the police and prosecution.  It is too easy to level the accusatorial finger and too hard for the innocent to overcome the power of a false accusation.  Even when faced with the most heinous circumstances, our system must treat every person in a balanced and fair manner.  Our criminal justice system should look at each person accused or convicted of a crime as a unique individual.  At a minimum, every individual is due basic consideration and respect due all human beings.

 

This is what we work to ensure - that our laws and judiciary do not prejudge any person and treat fairly each person accused and convicted of a crime.
